Oxford Online School

The Curriculum and Learning:

Oxford Online School offers a well-rounded curriculum for our students. Our aim is to provide a distinctive and exceptional online learning experience, using the widely renowned British curriculum. Our iPrimary curriculum consists of the following core subjects – English, Mathematics, Science, Humanities and Computing. Two core language subjects are also available – Spanish and French.

Our iPrimary classrooms consist of a maximum of 8 students, allowing for individual attention, as well as enabling interaction with their peers. This ensures that children remain involved and cultivate a passion for education. Teacher led discussions and demonstrations, whole-class question and answer sessions, peer and group interactions, role-plays, quizzes, online games, and dynamic e-learning experiences are just some of the methods used in the iPrimary classroom. The adaptability of studying with Oxford Online School equips young students with a robust groundwork for their ongoing academic pursuits. All students will receive the highest quality learning experience, with our aim being to combine the same dynamic of face-to-face lessons with the convenience and flexibility of remote access.

Teachers and Resources:

Teachers have access to dynamic resources to enhance class participation. Utilising the Pearson Active Learn platform, teachers can bring lessons to life with resources such as – Bug Club Comprehension, Inspire Primary Computing, Science Bug, Pearson International Primary Science, Power Maths, Primary Geography and Primary History. All teachers can monitor, evaluate, clarify and intervene to ensure learners complete their core online learning. The platform is extremely user friendly while also covering all of the preferred learning outcomes for each subject.

Oxford Online School employs an online learning platform and a comprehensive lesson library, ensuring 24/7 access to subject materials. Students of Oxford Online School will utilise the ManageBac platform to obtain their educational resources, ensuring a streamlined and integrated learning experience. Live sessions will be conducted through Zoom, providing a virtual classroom environment where students can engage in real-time with their instructors and peers. Students will log on to the internet using one of the following browsers: Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge, or Safari.

Student support and Progress:

iPrimary is the beginning of a journey that will require adaptation and patience. Support from parents, teachers and the governors create a conducive learning environment for students.

Each parent will be provided with their own read-only access to the learning platform. The system will allow parents to track progression in real time.

Alongside our teachers, our school is proud to have a dedicated and experienced governing body that plays a crucial role in ensuring the effective management and strategic direction of our institution. The governing body is responsible for overseeing the school’s activities, promoting its mission, and safeguarding the interests of students, staff, and the wider school community.

Utilising international benchmarking, Oxford Online School can form an understanding of where your child begins, how they learn, and watch their growth. This helps give them the best chance in school. The iPrimary programme often checks on their progress. The school grades some of these checks, as well as conducts outside tests. They then award a certificate that is measured against other students worldwide.

Benefits:

Learning online helps students develop their technical skills, critical thinking skills, problem solving skills, as well as gain independence. In today’s world, businesses and institutions are becoming increasingly innovative in the technological sectors. Learning to work with other students in a virtual environment, helps students become collaborative and gain leadership qualities. It also enables them to adapt to other similar environments quicker. Beginning to undertake self-study elements, students will improve their ability to manage their time, develop self-discipline and become more independent learners, all of which are key skills for secondary and university learning.

Whilst students can attend from anywhere in the world without needing to be physically present, they are still able to benefit from being part of an international community. They will have the opportunity to understand other cultures better, develop new friendships and broaden their international knowledge and skills.
